    This is so helpful! I struggle with how I think of myself--owner or employee or both. I converted to S Corp and made myself the only employee, based on that I will get w2 for the first time in a long time. I also heard you say that the "company" contributes, so the monies should come from the company operating acct, not from my personal account, correct? I will lask my accountant for guidance on how to decide how much to contribute.

      @el4teen Месяц назад

      I would recommend looking at the 401k route. But it’s still possible to do a SEP if they havnt met a certain time period of being a full time employee. Definitely discuss with a financial brokerage for details of the full time time employee rule.

      25% is what shows with IRS but after you take out the various limitations (such as FICA) it ends up being around 20%

    Why do we put up with this criminal extortion syndicate? My God 26 CFR 1.0-1 paragraph (d) clearly says TAXABLE YEARS began December 31 1953 and ENDED AUGUST 16 1954! There HAS NOT BEEN AN ENFORCEABLE LEGAL INCOME TAX in this country for 70 YEARS!!! AND they demand we fill out a form and tell them how much money we want to give them!! What the hell! Any Subtitle F compliant enforcement provisions took effect the day AFTER the date of ENACTMENT which was August 17 1954 but on that day there was NO TAX TO ENFORCE AS the tax died expired the day before! There HAS NOT BEEN AN ENFORCEABLE LEGAL INCOME TAX in this country for 70 YEARS!!!! The money they steal goes to the IMF and World Bank and is laundered through the Bank of International Settlements

    • @alphabgroup

      Hi! Etrade usually provides something called a "supplemental" form that shows the basis used for adjustment. Or you can also do a history search based on a purchase date.

    Thank you, very helpful. Is the contribution taken from your salary you set up or from the business directly?

    • @alphabgroup
      @alphabgroup 5 месяцев назад

      Hi! Contribution is taken from the business directly. The salary is only used to determine what the maximum contribution allowed is. Step 1) What is your total salary for the year that was paid on W2? Step 2) Multiply #1 by 25%. This is your maximum allowed SEP IRA contribution amount (be aware of maximum for the year) Step 3) Have the business send this money to the SEP IRA brokerage and make sure the contribution is applied to the correct year.

    This is exactly what I was looking for! I thought it was too late for me to get the tax benefits for 2023 taxes from a SEP IRA since I waited until January (this month) to set one up. So is it still the due date of April 15th 2024 even if I just signed up for a SEP IRA this month in 2024 or did I have to sign up for the SEP IRA last year in 2023? Thank you & I hope this question makes sense!

    • @alphabgroup
      @alphabgroup 6 месяцев назад

      Hi! Yes, you can still contribute to your SEP IRA for your 2023 tax return. Just do this by April 15th 2024. However, if you file an extension, the SEP contribution can be made by October 15th, 2024

    • @socialcheatsheet
      @socialcheatsheet 6 месяцев назад

      That is what I thought but I wanted to make sure I understood correctly. Thank you! 1 last question now, so this year 2024 should I contribute to my SEP IRA all year long off of an estimate of what I think I'll make this year so I already have the money in there for 2025 or should I just wait until 2025 to put the money in there before April 15th 2025? @@alphabgroup

    I think there is an error in 2:46 about the 30 days restriction. It is from the exercise date, not the grant date. To qualify for preferential tax treatment, your 83(b) election form must be postmarked and mailed to the appropriate IRS office within 30 days of purchasing your stock grant or the date of your early exercise.

    Thank you. The 1099-B for Cashless Sell for reporting confused me. This clear it up and allowed me to search other info for clarity. Seems for exercising and selling (Cashless sell) on the same day, the cost basis is not the grant_price x quantity as it is reported in 1099-B. The cost basis should be the exercise-or-the-same-sale-price x quantity. Basically the capital gain should be $0 (actually negative to account for the few dollars for the fees). Because the capital gain is already reported on my W-2 as income. Thank you. Saved me from a major snafu.

    Question, what if I made 290k last year and stopped working the last day of November 2021, thus far I'm not working in 2022 but my estimated tax payment is 47k for the 3rd quarter and 16k for the 4th quarter. I had no payments for the 1st and 2nd quarter because I had an extension. I have a penalty to pay along with a 2021 tax payment of 48K. Should I pay the estimated taxes since my current emplyment income is zero?

    Note that a risk of holding vested RSUs is that the stock price could fall 50% or more. I still have to pay taxes on last year’s inflated stock price before it fell. In my case, it’s thousands of dollars that was added on to my income and raised my tax bracket that I will potentially never see again. The government still takes their cut and taxes me at the higher amount. Tax loss harvesting would take years to recover the amount that I am being over taxed since it’s capped at $3,000.00 a year.
